Royal S. Freeman recently announced that he will be in the running for Sheriff of Charlotte County.

Freeman began his law enforcement career with the Charlotte County Sheriffs Office in 1988 and have continued to serve for more than thirty years.

“Having been been a correctional officer and patrol deputy and also held the ranks of Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Major, I feel I would be a wellqualified candidate,” Freeman said in a statement. “If elected to the position of Sheriff, my primary goals will include: treating the citizens of Charlotte County honestly and fairly, supporting our deputies as they continue to do an excellent job of protecting and serving those who live and work in our county, working closely with the schools, state police, and other agencies involved in the many areas of law enforcement, and producing strategies and approaches for dealing with the ongoing drug epidemic situations.”

“I am looking forward to meeting and talking with the people in Charlotte County to discuss my goals and plans,” Freeman said. “Your support and votes would be greatly appreciated as I pursue the office of Sheriff.”
