Hearing set for cheese factory

A proposed cheese factory is on the agenda, and set for a public hearing Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The applicant, John Yoder Esh of Germantown Road, proposed 4.95 acres for use as “wholesale making and distribution of cheese and milk products.”

The conditional use permit would not change the property’s current zoning as an Agricultural zone.

The application submitted to the county for the conditional use permit indicates that the water supply and sewage disposal system are new and come from a private well and system respectively.

The permit has seven conditions, which include that the facility follow federal, state and local regulations; that the Southside Soil & Water Conservation District review and approve an erosion and sediment control plan; that a stormwater management plan be approved by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality before any land disturbances if the proposed project exceeds 1 acre and that the applicant obtain a building permit before constructing a building for the facility.
