Crash results in fatality and injuries

Virginia State Police Trooper D. Meeks is investigating a three-vehicle fatal crash in Charlotte County. The crash occurred Monday, at 9:55 a.m. on U.S. Route 15, less than a mile south of U.S. Route 680.
According to a press release a 1996 Dodge Caravan was traveling south on U.S. Route 15 when it crossed the center line and struck a northbound 2000 Ford F-250 Super Duty pickup truck. The impact of that crash caused the Ford to run off the left side of the highway, strike a ditch and overturn.
Meanwhile, the Dodge Caravan continued south in the northbound lane and struck head-on a 2014 Hyundai Sonata. The impact of this crash caused both vehicles to run off the right side of the highway.
The driver of the Dodge  Caravan, Trequan C. Agnew, 19, of Keysville was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the Ford F-250, Jimmy P. Duffey, 72, of Keysville, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the Hyundai, Alma F. Carrington, 75, of Keysville died at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt.
Charges are pending as the crash remains under investigation.
