Rising Randolph-Henry High School juniors and seniors and their parents/guardians are welcome to attend a Career Tech Academy Information Session Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 6:15 p.m. The information session will be held at the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center’s Innovation Center located at 820 Bruce St., South Boston.
The Career Tech Academy (CTA) is a hands-on training program in mechatronics or information technology available to high school students from Charlotte, Halifax and Mecklenburg counties. Students take classes in South Boston at the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC), and may earn community college credits, a Career Studies certificate, and industry-recognized certifications.
“The Career Tech Academy provides juniors and seniors in our surrounding rural communities an amazing opportunity to gain industry recognized credentials, while incorporating hands-on learning instruction as they prepare for the workforce or to further their education at the community college or vocational level through the SVHEC Workforce Programs,” said Stephanie Robinson, CTA Administrator.
Students who will be in the 11th or 12th grade in the 2019-2020 school year, are urged to attend the CTA information session to learn more about the program, find out how to apply, meet instructors and tour the training labs.
For more information about the Career Tech Academy or to register for the information session, contact Stephanie Robinson at (434) 572-5492 or email stephanierobinson@svhec.org.
