Second bomb threat reported at Central Middle School – CCPS addresses students performing pranks

No explosive devices were found following a written bomb threat at Central Middle School Monday afternoon. Officials from the school division reported that students were safe to return to the middle school building for afternoon dismissal. The incident was believed to be a student prank.

School officials delivered the report 3:14 p.m.

This was the second bomb threat reported in the county Monday, and the third bomb threat reported at Central Middle School (CMS) in a week.

Like the written threat reported at CMS last Monday, school officials believe this is another student prank.

Additional law enforcement are reported to have a stronger presence at CMS in the coming weeks until the “current student behavioral trend settles.”

The message continues by addressing students. Any student found engaging in making threats will face “swift and severe consequences,” which could include legal charges being filed and consideration given for a 365-day expulsion from school.

At the conclusion of the message, school officials thank the “99 percent” of the CCPS student body who attend the county’s schools and practice good behavior.
