Heavy rainfall predicted

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Blacksburg is calling for rainfall that is expected to begin Friday afternoon into Saturday, with between 1-2 inches of rain projected.
Thursday night, the NWS called for “patches of black ice are possible as melted snow refreezes.”
As rain falls Friday and Saturday, the NWS issued a hazardous weather outlook that cited “Heavy rain (that) may cause flooding Friday and into the weekend.”
Rain is expected to begin Friday mainly after 10 a.m. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
For Friday night, rain is expected with chance of precipitation at 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
For Saturday, showers are expected mainly before 11 a.m. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
