Panthers top CIC, 102-94

The Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC) men’s basketball team won for the fourth time in its last five games by posting a 102-94 win over Central International College (CIC) on Saturday afternoon in Richmond.
The Panthers (4-3) got off to a good start as Michael Jackson completed a three-point play and K.J. Reagans knocked down a trey for an 18-9 lead at the 13-minute 56-second mark of the first half.
CIC fought back to knot the score, but Isaac Edwards hit a layup and Aaron Logan made a turnaround jumper for a 28-24 lead at the 6:23 mark.
A dunk by Jackson and a bucket by Reagans gave SVCC a 45-42 halftime lead.
The Panthers opened up a 68-59 lead on a bucket by Jackson at the 12:52 mark of the second half, but CIC stormed back to tie the score at the eight-minute mark.
Reagans scored eight points in a two-minute stretch to give SVCC a 91-82 lead with 4:27 remaining, and the Panthers hit 5-of-6 from the charity line in the final minute to seal the victory.
Jackson led SVCC with 34 points and nine rebounds while Reagans scored 20 points and Ricardo Sullivan totaled 18 points and added four assists.
The Panthers will return home Saturday to face the College of Southern Maryland at 2 p.m.
