The alleyway wall along 117 King St. is now home to a bright, multicolored mural where students from Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC) painted quotes from famous artists.

The project was led by SVCC teacher Katy Clarke, who also owns The Painted Palm art studio in Keysville.

Clarke said she has eight students from the Introduction to Painting course she teaches at SVCC.

Clarke said she was inspired to paint the mural from seeing other murals in the nearby Town of Farmville.

“My plan is to complete a new mural each semester with each new group of students, but we may have to start looking for new spots on which to paint,” Clarke said.
