Keysville Christmas Decorating Contest announced

The Keysville Ruritan Club and Keysville Garden Club are sponsoring a Christmas Decorating Contest. The clubs suggest decorations be in scale and proportion and be artistically designed for the residence, but decorations need not be elaborate.

Judging will begin at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 12. Sponsors advise decorations should include some fresh material. Live material such as mistletoe, running cedar or Native American Holly which are on the State Conservation List should not be used.

Businesses are encouraged to enter. However, no fresh material or concealed spot lighting will be required.

Categories include overall, door/window, religious (or yard scene) and novelty.

Judging will be based on overall effect. Concealed spot lighting is necessary. A radius within 5 miles of Keysville will be the judging area. Ribbons will be awarded to deserving entries and a tri-color ribbon will be awarded to the best entry.

Enter before noon, Dec. 10, by calling Velda Agee at (434) 736-9217 or Barbara Chiles at (434) 736-8110.
