A grand opening celebration for Wylliesburg’s new Dollar General is set for Oct. 13 to officially welcome the community to the new location, according to Dollar General’s Media Representative Angela Petkovic.
The new store is located at 10 Hebron Church Road in Saxe and a soft opening was held Sept. 30 from 3-6 p.m.
Petkovic said the grand opening is set to begin at 8 a.m. and will include free gift cards and giveaways.
“The store will employ approximately 6-10 employees, depending on the individual needs of the store,” she said.
A joint public hearing between the Charlotte County Board of Supervisors and the Charlotte County Planning Commission regarding a conditional use permit for the proposed Wylliesburg store was held August 2017 at the County Administration Building.
During that time, a conditional use permit application for the property said the store was proposed to be constructed beside the Tastee Freez in Wylliesburg.
Although no one spoke at the hearing, Charlotte County Planner and Purchasing Agent Monica Elder said the application for the permit was first received June 20 (2017) from Par 5 Development Group, LLC.
“When choosing store locations, meeting customers’ needs is Dollar General’s top priority. The company looks for places where we can offer customers an easy and convenient shopping choice,” said Petkovic. “We know convenience is a major factor in our customers’ shopping decisions as we generally serve customers within a three to five mile radius, or 10 minute drive. We also take demographic trends, competitive factors, traffic patterns and community concerns into consideration.”
Par 5’s Assistant Development Manager Zac Ivey said during the previous public hearing that signage for the proposed Dollar General will be the same as what is as the Dollar General that’s in Drakes Branch.
He said the Wylliesburg building would be the same as the one in Drakes Branch.
