Book Fairy visits pre-kindergartners at Phenix

During the first week of school at Phenix Elementary, the prekindergarten students in Mrs. Driskill’s room came to the library. There they were greeted by the Book Fairy. Library rules were discussed, songs were sung, and finger plays performed. It was not a quiet or a still time. The four-year olds will come once a week and begin their nursery rhyme unit during their next visit.

The Book Fairy, Librarian Allyson Watkins, reminded the children to have their parents read to them every single day. Research shows children who are read to at home on a daily basis are more likely to be better readers. Please take time to read to your child no matter his or her age
