Statesmen improve to 15-1 on links

Randolph-Henry High School’s varsity golf team produced impressive scores last week on its way to four more James River District (JRD) victories.
“As we approach our postseason play, I feel we are peaking at the right time,” Statesmen Head Coach Kelly Powell said.
On Tuesday, Aug. 28, the Statesmen shot a remarkable 158 at Crewe Country Club, defeating Nottoway High School, which shot a 197, and Cumberland County High School, which shot a 229.
Brenden Francisco led Randolph-Henry individually, producing a 38. Larkin Jackson generated a 39, Jordan Colbert registered a 40 and Skylar Lacks shot a 41.
The Statesmen shot a 165 on Thursday at Kinderton Country Club in Clarksville, topping Bluestone High School, which recorded a 207, and Cumberland, which was listed as a no show.
For Randolph-Henry, Lacks hit a 40, Caleb Shook finished with a 41, and Colbert and Thomas Johnson each shot 42s.
The Statesmen (15-1, 13-1 JRD) faced Central Lunenburg High School and Liberty Christian Academy on Tuesday; they play at Lunenburg Country Club on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
