The Randolph-Henry High School varsity golf team added two more wins to its history Thursday at Briery Country Club in its second event of the 2018 season. The Statesmen generated a team score of 157, a five-stroke improvement on its season-opening match two days prior. Placing second Thursday was Amelia County High School, 39 strokes back at 196. Buckingham County High School came in last with a 212 score. Brenden Francisco produced the low score for Randolph-Henry, shooting a 36. Skylar Lacks was right behind with a 37, Larkin Jackson had a 40 and Jordan Colbert shot a 44. “It was good,” Statesmen Head Coach Kelly Powell said of the match. “Everybody played a little bit better, and we shot a 157, so we’re doing well. Young kids (are) coming along great at this point in the season.” Randolph-Henry has a notably young group this year, including nine underclassmen compared to only four upperclassmen. Nevertheless, the team entered the week 4-0 overall this year and 2-0 in the James River District.
