Ira Thomas ‘Tommy’ Galbreath

Ira Thomas “Tommy” Galbreath, loving husband and father, went home to be with the Lord at the age of 72, surrounded by family on Wednesday, August 1, 2018.

He is survived by his wife of 28+ years, Nancy Galbreath, his children; Tommy, Mary and John Galbreath, Lisa Osborne, Kimberly and Sarah Galbreath, eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren and six sisters; Marie, Iris, Peggy, Linda, Laura and Stacey. He is preceded in death by his mother, Edna Locust, his father Ira Galbreath and a sister Louise.

Tommy was born in Virginia on June 20, 1946. He later served in the US Army before finding his true calling as a police officer for the Chesapeake Police Department. He retired as a detective after 23 years of service. He then went on to become the Town Sergeant for Drakes Branch Police Dept. and served for an additional 13 years. Above all he was a devoted husband and father. He will be greatly missed by his family, his friends and all who knew him.

A funeral service was held on August 4, at 11 a.m. in Spring Creek Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Bob Davis. Family received friends one hour prior to service at church.
