A lack of business to cover and multiple members out of town were among cited factors that resulted in the The Heartland Regional Industrial Facility Authority canceling its meeting scheduled for Tuesday, July 24.

Notification about the meeting cancellation was sent to authority members by email July 11.

“There is no new business to come before the Virginia’s Regional Heartland Industrial Facility Authority Board therefore the July 24, 2018, meeting has been canceled and the next scheduled meeting will be October 23, 2018,” the text of the email read.

The cancellation was also posted at the county website, but the exact date it was posted could not be located by the county office.

Authority Chairman Gary Walker said the next meeting is expected to take place in October, when the regular scheduled meeting would take place.

“We didn’t have any business to take up,” Walker said Monday, “and several of the members were going to be on vacation, and we weren’t going to have a quorum.”
