Majors All-Stars win District 5

The Charlotte County Major League All-Star team made its county proud June 27, including all of those who have helped establish the locality’s powerful baseball tradition, like the late Lealon Vassar, who died in November.
“When we started practice, we dedicated the rest of the season and this tournament to his memory,” Charlotte County Majors All-Star Manager Gary Walker said of Vassar.
No doubt was left who the champion was of the 2018 Dixie Youth Baseball Majors All- Star District 5 Tournament on June 27 as Charlotte County pulled away early and then maintained and built on its lead, defeating the Crewe-Burkeville All-Stars 19-5 in four innings at Lenhart Field in Victoria.
“We hit early, and Brayson (Arrington) threw great,” Walker said.
Arrington pitched all four innings of the game, throwing seven strikeouts. He also went 2-for-3 with an RBI on offense.
Leading the team offensively was Kanye Dailey, who went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. He was also named the batting champion for the tournament.
Across five games, he produced four home runs and a .613 batting average.
Making its first appearance in the state tournament since 2013, the Charlotte County Majors All-Stars begin play Friday in Buckingham.
