Virginia Fay Harris Thorpe

Virginia Fay Harris Thorpe, was born on November 4, 1947 and passed away on May 14, 2018 after a battle with ovarian cancer. She was known as Fay to her family, Ginny to friends, and Miss Ginny to her many Sunday School students. She spent her working life with Drucker and Falk, and retired as an internal auditor in 2008. She was a member of the Drakes Branch Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for over 12 years with co-teacher Mary Duffie, and served on the Hospitality Committee , which she chaired for several years.
Mrs. Thorpe was predeceased by her father, Robert A. Harris, mother, Virginia Neese, and husband, Clifford C. Thorpe. She survived by her sister Ruth Ann Bise; her brothers James Harris (Theresa), and Robert “Duck” Harris (Suzanne); six nieces, including special niece Sharon Guglielmini (Tim) and their son Harry; step-children, Curtis Wayne Thorpe (Diana), Charles Thorpe (Debra), and Jimmy Thorpe, and numerous step-grandchildren. She is also survived by many friends who were as close as family. She will be remembered as a vibrant personality with a zest for life.
Viewing will be on Wednesday, May 16, at 1 p.m., with the funeral service at 2 p.m., at Drakes Branch Baptist Church. Burial will take place immediately after the service at Virginia Thorpe’s residence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family wishes to thank Kim and Dewayne Rutrough for their loving care during Virginia’s final days.
