HEAD START RIBBON CUTTING, 10 a.m. at Charlotte Head Start/Early Head Start Center in Charlotte Court House.

April 27-29

ANNUAL CATFISH TOURNAMENT, 8 p.m. on Friday to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Brookneal Boat Ramp on the Staunton River. On-site registration will be held at the Brookneal Boat Ramp 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday. Children under 12 may fish with a parent or guardian without being registered, but will not be eligible for prizes. This event is sponsored by the Staunton River Masonic Lodge #155.

April 28

WOMEN’S PRAYER BREAKFAST, 9 a.m. at Mossingford Baptist Church in Saxe. The speaker will be educator and professor at Virginia University of Lynchburg, Hezetine Foster. All women are invited.

WOMEN’S DAY WEEKEND, 1-4 p.m. at Meadowview Terrace Community Center room in Clarksville. The women of Salem Baptist Church will fellowship. The theme of the program is Diamonds and Pearls. The event will include a fashion show, vendors and refreshments.

WOMEN’S PRAYER BREAKFAST, 9 a.m. at Mossingford Baptist Church in Saxe. The speaker will be the Dr. Hezteine Foster, professor and educator. All women are invited.

April 29

ECOLOGY CLUB ANNIVERSARY, 3-4:30 p.m. on the blacktop behind Eureka Elementary School. The club will celebrate 10 years and former and current Ecology Club students will be recognized. The event will include an open trail.

WOMEN’S DAY SERVICE, 10:45 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church in Red Oak. Minister Brenda Wilson will be the guest proclaimer and the all ladies women’s day choir will render the music. All ladies are asked to wear white, a favorite hat and pearls. The theme is Moving Forward as Kingdom Women by the Power of God. Everyone is invited.

FLORAFEST, 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Charlotte County Extension Office. The event will include the Charlotte County Master Gardeners plant sale and lectures.

SINGING, 11 a.m. at Union Grove Baptist Church in Keysville. Special guests will include the Tuckers from Madison, North Carolina. A covered lunch dish will follow. For more information, call (434) 736-9970.

HAT PROGRAM, 11 a.m. at Organ Hill Baptist Church in Drakes Branch. Minister Dorothy Reid will deliver the message. All are invited.

SPIRITUAL EVENING WITH WELL DRESSED MAN, 3 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church in Meherrin. This event is sponsored by the Pastor’s Aide Society. The speaker will be Pastor Troy Anderson of Forrest with his choir.

YOUTH CHOIR ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church in Keysville. Everyone is invited.

May 1

BEEKEEPERS MEETING, 7 p.m. at the Prince Edward County Extension Office in Farmville. Jeremy Snyder will speak about fences for bee yards. Anyone who has bees or is interested in bees is welcome. For more information call Mary Jane Morgan at (434) 315-1433.

May 2-4

REVIVAL, 7 p.m. nightly at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Brookneal. The Rev. John Smith of New Site Green Creek Baptist Church of Farmville will be the guest speaker. Various choirs will render the music. All are welcome.

REVIVAL, 7:30 p.m. nightly at Organ Hill Baptist Church. A different speaker will be in attendance nightly.

May 3

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER, 6-8 a.m. at Red Oak Excavating in Red Oak. The featured speaker will be Joe Don Cooper and special music will be provided by Lynn Cooper.

May 4

COMMUNITY MEETING, 7 p.m. at the Bacon District Fire House. This event is hosted by Wylliesburg/Red Oak Supervisor Kay Pierantoni.

May 9-11

CHURCH REVIVAL, 7 p.m. nightly at St. Michael Baptist Church in Drakes Branch. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Vincent Eanes, pastor of Lone Oak Baptist Church. A different choir will sing each night. Everyone is welcome.

May 15

FUNDRAISER NIGHT, 5-9 p.m. at Wylliesburg Tastee Freez. A portion of proceeds will benefit the Randolph-Henry Marching Statesmen.

May 20

PASTOR’S ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at St. Michael Baptist Church in Drakes Branch. This event will celebrate the 12th anniversary of the Rev. James E. Goode. The Rev. Paul Crews of Millstone Baptist Church will deliver the anniversary message, accompanied by his choir. Dinner will be served. All are invited.
