The Southern Virginia Beef Alliance (SVBA), is a membership based organization selling feeder cattle covering the counties of Mecklenburg, Halifax, Campbell, Charlotte, Pittsylvania and more. The SVBA welcomes producers from any county around the region in Virginia and North Carolina. They sell both heifers and steers.

A general meeting Thursday, April 19, at 7 p.m. has been scheduled to select the sale dates for 2018. The meeting will be held at the Halifax Agricultural Marketing Center located at 1001 Farm Way Lane, Scottsburg, off Bethel Road near N. Terry’s Bridge Road.

The opportunity for increased feeder cattle sales exists with producers working together and comingling their cattle for loads. To sell with the SVBA, producers will need to be BQA certified.

Membership in the SVBA offers marketing of feeder cattle, membership meetings during the year, and mentoring from experienced cattle farmers.
