Gospel show set for March

The Southside Chapter of the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club is set to sponsor a gospel show in March, a release from the club cited.

The show, featuring several gospel groups and performers in the Heart of Virginia and beyond, will take place March 17 at 3 p.m. at Randolph-Henry High School, the release cited.

Club Organizer Dearrion Snead said Monday that several of the groups slated to perform are based in the area.

He said the group Men of Salvation are based in Amelia County, the group Men of Faith are based in Henrico and the Group Wings of Praise are based in Tappahannock.

Snead also noted that Gilbert Baskerville, an esteemed jazz musician currently based in Atlanta, Georgia, will perform at the concert.

Baskerville, according to his bio provided by Snead, studied saxophone, piano, drums, guitar and vocals at Bluestone High School in Skipwith and Alameda College in California.

Baskerville is currently a member of Natural Four and has performed with jazz groups and musicians The Isley Brothers, Bloodstone and Gene Chandler.
