Randolph-Henry High School’s varsity wrestling team got its 2017-18 season off to a competitive start over the weekend, placing 10th at a 16-team Fork Union Military Academy-hosted tournament in a field of Virginia High School League Class 5, Class 6 and private school opponents.

“I could not be more proud of the way the team did this weekend,” Statesmen Head Coach Zack Mowery said.

He noted that sophomore Danny Parrish won the 195-pound weight class and earned the title of most outstanding wrestler for the tournament.

Senior Caleb Calhoun placed third in the 285-pound class. In the 145-pound division, junior Billy French took fourth and sophomore Chandler Newcomb took fifth. Junior John Wendelin placed eighth in the 126-pound class.
