Michael Darrell ‘Mike’ Douglas Sr.

Michael Darrell “Mike” Douglas, Sr., of Saxe, VA passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 27, 2017. He was born March 13, 1950, to Bernard Jackson Douglas and Lucille Watts Douglas. He was the owner/operator of Douglas Auto in Drakes Branch, VA, for over 35 years, race car driver, and UPS mechanic. He not only served his customers as mechanic, but tow truck operator, parts vendor, welder, fabricator, community member, and friend. He believed in the virtues of hard work and took great pride in being able to excel at difficult tasks. He is survived by his son, Michael D. “Mickey” Douglas Jr. of Keysville, VA; his sister, Faye Rutledge & husband Warren of Red Oak, VA; niece, Angela Stimpson & husband Sean of Red Oak, VA; great nephews, Justin Stimpson and Hunter Stimpson of Red Oak, VA; and his most precious and loved Daschunds Princess & Missy.
A funeral service was held at 3 p.m., Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, in Providence Presbyterian Church, Nathalie, VA, with interment in the church cemetery. The family received friends at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, from 6:30 – 8 p.m.
