Keysville Christmas Parade Grand Marshal announced

The Town of Keysville announced the 2017 Grand Marshals, Mr. and Mrs. Danny Flynn, of Keysville, Virginia. Danny and his wife Sandy, will lead this year’s parade Friday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m.

Danny was born and raised in Charlotte County, graduated from Randolph-Henry High School and Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC) before pursuing a career with Norfolk Southern Railroad as Maintenance of Way Repairman. He recently retired from Norfolk Southern after 37 years. He owns and operates Flynn Repair, a mobile repair business. Danny serves as chairman of the Deacon Board at Ash Camp Baptist Church, treasurer of the Keysville Ruritan Club, volunteer at Habitat for Humanity, volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels and assists with community stews at Keysville Hardware.

Sandy was born and raised in Charlotte County, graduated from Randolph-Henry High School, SVCC, Longwood College and received National Board Certification in Early and Middle Childhood Literacy. She recently retired after teaching for Charlotte County Public Schools for 28 years, where she was honored with District Teacher of the Year. Sandy served as a Deacon at Ash Camp, where she also leads the newly formed Kingdom Kids group, serves as co-Sunday Sunday School Director, is co-leader of the 320 Group Bible Study in Charlotte County, is a member and past president of Alpha Delta Kappa, a member of the Retired Teachers Association, is currently teaching first grade at Eureka Elementary as a long term substitute and is a volunteer at Eureka.

Danny and Sandy have been married for 40 years and have three children, Chase, Dustin and Casey Flynn.

Southside School of Dance will start off the parade in front of the judges stand. Leading the parade is Charlotte County Sheriff Thomas Jones followed by bands, floats, pageant winners, football teams, cheerleaders, emergency vehicles, Big Rigs, tractors, horses and Santa. Join Santa after the parade in the Tea Room located across the street from the judges stand.

Judges for this year’s parade will be Yevette Perrin, Dale Itiekman and Andrew Crocker. Winners for each category will be announced at the judges stand immediately following the parade.
