Mrs. Joyce Marie Eames, age 64 formerly of Saxe, died on Sept. 28, 2017. She was the daughter of the Mrs. Ezie Elam and the late Mr. Henry A Elam. She was married to Master Chief Robert Eames, Jr., USN Retired.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Michelle Eames; father, Henry A. Elam, and brother, Larry Elam.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Eames, Jr., formerly of Charlotte Court House; son, Tony Eames (Margaret); grandchildren, Taniyah Eames, Christina Aikens and Christopher Aikens, all of San Diego, CA; mother, Ezie Elam of Saxe, VA; three sisters, Dorenthia Currin (Ronnie) of Richmond, VA, Cheryl Bacon (Michael) of Keysville, VA, and Virginia and Ronda Elam of Saxe, VA, VA; one brother, Vincent Elam (Barbara) of Chase City, VA; brother-in-law, Paul Eames of Cullen, VA; sister-in-law, Mary Carter of Macon, NC; godson, Sanjay Mani and his children, Jaslin and Sammya; goddaughter, Michelle Smith (Brian) and children, Robert and Kayla; and a host of other relatives and friends throughout the country, including her beloved dog, Bella.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at the Anderson-Ragsdale Mortuary Memory Chapel in San Diego, CA with the interment at Miramar National Cemetery, San Diego, CA.
