It is a satisfying thing to finish well, and that is exactly what Randolph-Henry High School’s junior varsity (JV) girls volleyball team did on Friday.
The Lady Statesmen closed the challenging 2017 season by earning a 2-0 victory over the visiting JV squad from Cumberland County High School.
Mollie Mayhew, Sydney William and Pearl Sandridge recorded two kills apiece, leading a balanced and unified attack.
Hayley Perkinson served up a team-high four aces, with Sandriridge and Lawson each producing two.
The Lady Statesmen finished the season with a 5-11 record, recovering from an 0-6 start to win half of their last 10 games.
“I’m so proud of these ladies and their accomplishments this year,” Head Coach Sandy Mayhew said Friday. “Tonight before the game I told them to go out and ‘show everyone what you have learned this year. Tonight’s your night to put it all together,’ and they did. This has been a fun team to watch this year grow from individuals back in August into the team they are now.”
