Mary Willie White Johnson

Mrs. Mary Willie White Johnson peacefully departed this life on Oct. 6, 2017 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was born on May 12, 1925 in Charlotte Court House, Virginia to the late Fisher and Gertrude White.

Mary moved to Philadelphia when she was around eighteen years old where she met and married the late James Johnson, Sr. They were blessed with five sons and one daughter. Mary was a role model for all of her children as she nurtured them spiritually and taught them how to care and love everyone.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fisher and Gertrude White; brother, Willie Henry White; sister, Doretha Foster; husband, James Johnson, Sr.; sons, Bernard Johnson and Willie Henry Johnson; granddaughter, Na’Kenya Morse; and grandson, Kenneth Morse. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, James Johnson, Jr. (PA); daughter-in-law, Dangilett Johnson (NC); son, Wilbur Johnson Sr.and wife, Barbara (PA); daughter-in-law, Michelle Johnson (PA); daughter, Doris DeLorme and husband, Donald (PA); fourteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services were held 11 a.m. Monday, Oct.16, at New Gethsemane Baptist Church in Philadelphia, PA and 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, at the Chapel of Dupee’s Funeral Home in Drakes Branch, with interment in St. Louis Baptist Church Cemetery, Charlotte Court House, Virginia.

Services of Comfort were provided by Jason Lloyd Funeral Home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Dupee’s Funeral Home in Drakes Branch, Virginia.
