October 21

WOMEN’S PRAYER BREAKFAST, 9 a.m. at St. Douglas Baptist Church. All are welcome.

ANNUAL RAINBOW TEA, 4 p.m. at the Peoples Community Center in Victoria. This event is sponsored by the Lunenburg Chapter of NAACP. Everyone is invited.

October 22

CHURCH ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Drakes Branch. The Reverend John Craighead, pastor of the Mossingford Baptist Church  and the New Rehoboth Baptist Church will be the speaker for the afternoon and the Mossingford Baptist Choir will render the music.

SENIOR CITIZEN SERVICE, 2:30 p.m. at First Rock Baptist Church in Prospect. The Rev. John Smith and his church Old Green Creek Baptist Church will be the guests.

CHURCH ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at Beautiful Plain Baptist Church. The pastor and church family will celebrate their 117th anniversary. Guest minister will be Minister Edward Locket of Charlotte, North Carolina. A guest choir will render the music. All are invited.

October 26-27

VETERAN FARMING CONFERENCE, at Hudson Heritage Farms in Halifax.

The conference is geared towards veterans already involved in agriculture and veterans interested in or new to farming. Registration is now open and the event is free for veterans. For more information, contact Rebekah Slabach at (434) 476-2147 or rslabach@vt.edu.

FALL FESTIVAL, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in Drakes Branch. Visit the Charlotte County Farmer’s Market at Drakes Branch.

FALL FESTIVAL, 2:30-5:30 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church in Red House. Everyone is welcome. The event will include bouncy houses, games, balloon animals, stew, cotton candy, popcorn and more.

TRICK OR TREAT OPEN HOUSE, 6-7:30 p.m. at Charlotte Primary Care in Charlotte Court House. Treats will be given to kids 0-12. 

STEW, 11 a.m. at Jerry and Brenda Bowers’ shop. Chicken, beef and a mix will be available. All proceeds will benefit expenses assciated with the 2018 Honduras mission trip. Preorders are welcome. MEN’S DAY WEEKEND, 11 a.m. sponsored by Salem Baptist Church in Red Oak. On Saturday, the Men’s fellowship will be held at Staunton View Park. The Rev. Chester Terry of New St. Douglas and Whittle Grove churches will be the guest speaker. All men are invited. On Sunday, the Salem’s Annual Men’s Day will be celebrated with the Rev. Roger Lee Allen and the Salem Male Chorus. Everyone is invited.

October 29

HEARTLAND BAND, 7 p.m. at Rough Creek Presbyterian Church. Light refreshments will be served following the concert. All are welcome to attend. The church is located three miles north of Phenix on highway 727.

October 30

Candlelight Vigil, 7 p.m. at the Charlotte County Courthouse Lawn.  Tri-County Community Action Agency, Inc. will host a candlelight vigil to bring awareness to domestic violence in the community. The vigil is also for victims of domestic violence and those lost to domestic violence.

October 31

TRUNK OR TREAT, 5-7 p.m. at Ash Camp Baptist Church in the parking lot. Adults, youth and children will hand out treats. Look for the best decorated vehicle and costumes while enjoying treats, a hayride, bonfire and s’mores.

November 3-4

ANNUAL CHRISTMAS BAZAAR, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday at St. Theresa Parish Center in Farmville. Admission is free and will include a local author book signing, door prizes, baked goods, crafts, stained glass and more.

November 4

USED BOOK SALE, 9 a.m.-noon in the small brick building behind the Charlotte Court House Library. This event is hosted by the Charlotte County Library. Very low prices on books and DVD’s. All proceeds benefit the four libraries of Charlotte County.

November 5

SENIOR CHOIR ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at Jericho Baptist Church in Farmville. Special guests will include the St. Michael Baptist Church Senior Choir and Mt. Zion Second Baptist Church Senior Choir.

THANKSGIVING MARKET, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Drakes Branch Pavilion. Join the Charlotte County Farmer’s Market at Drakes Branch for their special market dates.

December 9

HOLIDAY GIFT MARKET, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Charlotte County Farmer’s Market at Drakes Branch. The market is located at the Drakes Branch Pavilion. Visit for special market dates.

ARTISTS AMONG US, The Friends of the Charlotte County Library invite the public to visit the Keysville Branch Library from October 19 until November 22 to view the art show, which features the works of more than a dozen talented professional artists with close ties to Charlotte County. There are many works of art on exhibit, and they may be viewed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays as well as from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays.
