Phenix Elementary School held its first PTO meeting for the 2017-18 school year on Wednesday, September 20.

PTO President Lisa Walker addressed the parents and told of all the fun upcoming projects and events that are planned for the school year.

The program was turned over to the fourth and fifth grade students. Mrs. Watkins, the librarian, helped plan the program that focused on reading.  The students recited poems that dealt with reading and then put on a play based on the book, “Petunia,” written by Roger Duvoisin. The essence of the story is that you must learn to read not only to be wise, but also to be helpful to your friends.

The PTO provided the masks for the play and Mr. Badgett, the music teacher, directed the singing. It was a wonderful way for the students to show their creative side.
