Gardening enthusiasts can enter an exhibit in the South Central Fair in Chase City, set for Oct. 8-14. There will be a Miniature Container Garden contest in the agriculture building for adults and youth. There are three categories for the entries including: Moss Garden (moss must be the dominant plant, can include other plants and accessories); Fairy Garden (must include a figurine, such as fairy, gnome, angel or human) and Oriental Garden (done in an oriental manner).

Entries must include live plants, with a container size to 20-inches deep and wide and 8-10 inches high so it can fit on the shelves for viewing. The entries must also include accessories that enhance a scene (such as house, bird bath, furniture, rocks, bridge, garden arch, walkway, etc.) and can include self-contained battery-operated water feature or lights. No electricity will be available. Do not use real flames.

Bring your exhibit to the Agriculture Building on Oct. 8 between 1-5 p.m., or on Oct. 9 between 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Judging will commence on Tuesday and be on display through Saturday. This will be a fun display that the public will appreciate. Those with questions should call (434) 374-4910 or (434) 294-4691.
