On Sept. 30, the Marching Statesmen traveled to Glenvar High School to compete in the Celtic Classic. This year’s show, “Light Up the Night,” was well-received by the audience and judges. The Marching Statesmen earned the following awards: second place color guard, second place music, first place drum major, first place percussion, first place general effect, first place marching and first place overall in Class AA.  The Marching Statesmen were also awarded the highest award for the day, grand champion for Class A, AA, and AAA. This award is given to the band with the highest overall score within those classes. The Marching Statesmen head to Hanover High School on Oct. 14 for their next competition.
