Randolph-Henry High School’s varsity golf team continued its remarkable dominance in the James River District on Tuesday by winning the district tournament at The Manor Golf Club in Farmville.
The Statesmen produced a team score of 310, and their closest competition was Goochland High School with a 348.
Statesmen Head Coach Kelly Powell said its was the “best we’ve ever played over here since I’ve been coaching. We used to have our district tournament here years ago, and this is the first year they’ve brought it back in four years. I’m not sure we’ve ever broken 320 here before, or maybe not 330, so it’s the best we’ve ever played here. Everybody just had their day, everybody played good. When you kick out an 80 and 83, you’ve played well.”
Eli Moore shot a three-over par 75, Skylar Lacks shot a 77, Larkin Jackson shot a 78, Evan Mason produced an 80, Logan Newcomb had an 80 and Nathan Towery recorded an 83.
R-H will play in the Class 2 Region A tournament Tuesday at Kinderton Country Club in Clarksville. Only one team advances to the state tourney.
