W.K. Hunter Sr. ‘Sleepy

W.K. Hunter Sr. “Sleepy”, age 89, of Drakes Branch, passed away in his sleep June 12, 2017. 

He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years Peggy T. Hunter; two sons, David K. Hunter of Drakes Branch, Eric W. Hunter; grandson, David K. Blackford; brother, Thomas C. Hunter, Jr., all of Virginia Beach; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by a son, W.K. Hunter, Jr. Sleepy was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, and a dedicated firefighter for the Virginia Beach Fire Department for over thirty years.  After retirement he was a member of the Drakes Branch Fire Department until his death.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2017 in the Drakes Branch Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, is in charge of the arrangements.
