Randolph-Henry High School’s varsity girls tennis team’s lower seeds gained more experience and its middle seeds gained more exposure to pressure situations last week when they played higher in the lineup during a match at William Campbell High School.

The Tuesday match revealed Randolph-Henry has some good depth as it reproduced its 9-0 winning score from its home match earlier this season against the Lady Generals.

“This is in continuing preparation for the postseason and for work toward next year,” R-H Coach Shannon Feinman said of the lineup change. “All of the girls rose to the challenge. We were very pleased with their concentration and steadiness in new spots in the lineup.”

At No. 1 singles, Helen Lin won 8-4, at No. 2, Eliza Walker won 8-1, at No. 3, McKenzie Sharpe won 8-5, at No. 4, Annie Sandridge won 8-0, at No. 5, Morgan Mason won 8-3, and at No. 6, Taylor Jones won 8-0.

Randolph-Henry’s usual No. 1 and No. 2 singles players, Meredith Feinman and Couper Webb, respectively, had the day off in singles play, but they won their No. 1 doubles match 8-0.

At No. 2 doubles, Lin and Walker won 8-1, and at No. 3, Sharpe and Sandridge won 8-2.

The Lady Statesmen (7-0) were slated to host Goochland High School on Tuesday, and they will host Prince Edward County High School on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
