Dear Editor,
The Barksdale Cancer Foundation (BCF) would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who helped to make our eighth annual handbag bingo such an outstanding process. The fundraiser has already surpassed our $8,000 goal and donations continue to trickle in.
The event could never be such a great fundraiser without the help of community sponsors who donated food, raffle prizes, money, advertising, etc., and of course, we thank all those who bought tickets, sold tickets, baked goodies and the vendors who offered our bingo players selections of bags, totes, jewelry, and other products.
Barksdale Cancer Foundation was founded in 1999 solely for the purpose of giving monetary support to cancer patients in Charlotte County.
In addition to grants for patients, the organization offers gas cards to qualifying individuals, wigs, caps, information packets, various prosthesis products and other products as they are available.
This marks the sixth year in which Barksdale has awarded a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating county high school student pursuing a career in the medical profession, preferably in the field of oncology.
The foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization manned totally by volunteers.
If you know of anyone who needs assistance in their fight against cancer, please call Lois at (434) 610-2508 or Wendy at (434) 470-1538.
If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to BCF you may mail it to P.O. Box 225, Charlotte Court House, VA 23923.
The organization appreciates your support of “neighbors helping neighbors.”
