Go Virginia meeting is April 11

The Southern Go Virginia Region 3 Council will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, April 11 at noon, which will follow the region’s executive committee meeting at 10:30 a.m.

The purpose of the meeting, according to a press release, is to review the new support organization, status of the growth and diversification plan and review council orientation to discuss advisory committee membership and meetings.

According to the release both meetings will be held at the offices of Mid-Atlantic Broadband, 1100 Confroy Dr., South Boston.

Officials said in the release at the formation meeting on March 16, the Regional 3 Council elected its council chair as Charles Majors, the chairman of the Board of American National Bank and Trust Company, and elected as its vice chair as Lunenburg resident Ernest R. Lail, a retired executive of Peebles Department Store and chairman of the board of Mid-Atlantic Broadband Communities Corporation and chair of Benchmark Community Bank.

The Southern Virginia Region of Go Virginia includes Buckingham, Cumberland, Prince Edward, Lunenburg, Charlotte, Patrick, Henry, Pittsylvania, Halifax, Mecklenburg, Brunswick, Nottoway, Amelia, Martinsville and Danville.

According to the release, Go Virginia is an emerging economic development initiative.
