LENTEN LUNCHEON, noon at Keysville UMC, located on Church Street. The speaker will be the Rev. Nona Allen of the Prince Edward Charge (United Methodist). Bring a sandwich, drinks and dessert will be provided. All are welcome.

APRIL 1

STEW, 10:30 a.m. at Butch Shook’s, sponsored by the Charlotte County APVA. Cost is $7 a quart. Contact Kaye at (434) 454-6238 to pre-order stew.

COOKIE BOOTH, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at Food Lion in Keysville. Sales will support Girl Scout Troop 1154.

APRIL 2

CHURCH PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at Gill Hill Baptist Church in Keysville. The Rev. Ronald Claiborne will bring the word and Truth Deliver will render the music. Gill Hill is located at 1427 County Line Road. Everyone is invited.

CHOIR ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at Beautiful Plain Baptist Church. Everyone is invited.

MALE CHORUS ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church in Keysville. The program will include a variety of groups. All are invited.

DAVID MELTON FAMILY SINGERS, 6 p.m. at Public Fork Christian Church in Red Oak. All are invited.

FAMILY AND FRIENDS DAY, 11:30 a.m. at St. Douglas Baptist Church. The Rev. Wendell E. Brown will bring the morning message. Dinner will be served. All are welcome.

APRIL 4

BEEKEEPERS MEETING, 7 p.m. at the Prince Edward County Extension Office. Anyone who has bees or is interested in bees is welcome.  For more information, call Mary Jane Morgan at (434) 315-1433.

APRIL 5

APRIL 6

WEATHER SPOTTER TRAINING, 6:30 p.m. at the Red House Volunteer Fire Department. This free two-hour presentation is open to the public and geared toward anyone interested in weather and/or anyone seeking to become an official storm spotter. APRIL 8

EASTER EGG HUNT, 2 p.m. at Wayland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. This event is free to the public. The Easter Bunny will make a visit and prizes to be awarded.

SOUTH CENTRAL GENEALOGICAL MEETING, 1:30 p.m. at Tucker Brother’s Store building in Charlotte Court House. The building is located at 200 David Bruce Ave. Guest speakers will include Chris Langner and Lynde Roberts. Meetings are free and open to the public.

EASTER EGG HUNT, 4 p.m. at Wylliesburg Presbyterian Church. The church is located at 506 Jackson Vaughan Road in Wylliesburg. Everyone is welcome.

EASTER EGG HUNT, 10 a.m. at Village Presbyterian Church. Bring a basket. Refreshments will be provided.

BENEFIT FOR PENNIE DUFFIE HORVATH, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. across from the Drakes Branch Volunteer Fire Department. Pennie is currently going through treatment for cancer. Proceeds will be help with medical and gas expenses. Plates are $8 and will include chicken or fish. Baked goods will be available for sale as well. 

BRUNSWICK STEW, 9:30 a.m. at Sheldon’s Restaurant in Keysville and the Drakes Branch Pavilion. Stew may also be picked up at Concord Baptist Church in Chase City from 8:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m. Price is $6 per quart to benefit the Charlotte County Meals on Wheels. Preorders may be placed by calling (434) 736-8441 no later than 5 p.m. on April 3. 

APRIL 12

FUNDRAISING MEAL, 4:30-8 p.m. at Pino’s Restaurant in Keysville. A portion of proceeds will benefit the Charlotte County Meals on Wheels. Take-out orders are included.

MAUNDY THURSDAY SERVICE, 7 p.m. at Wylliesburg Presbyterian Church. The church is located at 506 Jackson Vaughan Road in Wylliesburg. Everyone is welcome.

APRIL 15

BARKSDALE SCHOLARSHIP, The Barksdale Cancer Foundation is sponsoring a one-time scholarship for high school graduates pursuing a medical career. Scholarship information and guidelines may be picked up at your school guidance office or or downloaded from www.charlotteva.com. Information must be received by April 15. RETIRED TEACHERS SCHOLARSHIP, The Charlotte County Retired Teachers will offer a scholarship to high school seniors or college students who will be future teachers. Applications can be picked up a the Randolph Henry High School guidance office or by contacting Kaye at (434) 454-6238. Applications are due by April 15.

KIDZ CONSIGNMENT SALE, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Southside Virginia Community College in Keysville. Team Cassidy will be sponsoring the kids consignment sale. Those interested in consigning please contact Kristen at kduffer@gmail.com. All profits from the sale will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

EASTER EGG HUNT, 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Bible Church in Keysville. The event will feature over 1,000 eggs and the Easter story will be presented by Pastor Todd Childers. All are invited to stay and enjoy a hot dog lunch. The church is located at 401 Southern Dr.

APRIL 16

EASTER SUNDAY, at Wylliesburg Presbyterian Church. Easter breakfast will begin at 9 a.m. followed by Sunday School at 10 a.m. and Easter Cantata at 11 a.m. The church is located at 506 Jackson Vaughan Road in Wylliesburg. Everyone is welcome.

EASTER SON-RISE SERVICE, 7 a.m. at Emmanuel Bible Church in Keysville. Experience an outdoor “Easter Son-Rise Service.” Breakfast will be served by the men of Emmanuel Bible Church in the fellowship hall. The church is located at 401 Southern Dr.

MAY 6

PAMPLIN BARN DANCE, 6-8 p.m. at the Pamplin Train Depot. The event is free and family friendly.

MAY 13

CATFISH TOURNAMENT, 5:30 p.m. registration time at Staunton River State Park Picnic Shelter No. 2. The captains meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by the fishing kickoff at 7 p.m. All fishing will conclude at 2 a.m. This event is sponsored by the Halifax Volunteer Fire Department. The event will include food, drinks, tee shirts, prizes and raffles.
