Father and son set to stand trial

John Henry Noblin Sr., of Abilene, is set to stand trial on Wednesday, March 8 in Charlotte Circuit Court for charges involving an alleged malicious assault.

Noblin, 64, was indicted and arrested on Aug. 5, 2016 for the alleged crime committed on Feb. 27, 2016.

According to Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Johnny Wright, the call came to police as a neighborly dispute.

According to police, the 68-year-old victim approached John Noblin Sr.’s house to confront him about an issue over dog food bowls, according to the report.

The report states John Noblin Sr. attacked the neighbor, who allegedly used his hands in the attack. The victim said in the report he was also struck with an object, but was unsure what the object was. The victim was sent to the hospital, the report stated, for injuries, including a knocked-out tooth.

The initial trial on Sept. 21, 2016 was continued to Dec. 14, 2016 and then to Wednesday

The trial will be held at 9 a.m.

Noblin’s son, John Travis Noblin, 26, was also arrested in connection with the alleged incident and charged with malicious assault. His trial is also set for Wednesday

Police didn’t say the extent to which the younger Noblin was involved in the incident.
