The Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC) men’s basketball team had its five-game winning streak snapped Saturday with a 132-80 road loss to Davidson County Community College (DCCC), which is ranked No. 1 in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III polls.

The win improved DCCC to 22-2 on the season while SVCC fell to 7-9.

The Panthers got off to a good start, hitting a three-pointer on the first trip down the court and jumping out to a 7-2 lead at the 17:09 mark of the first half on a bucket by Anthony Harris.

It was all Davidson County after that, as the home team used its pressure defense to set up easy buckets, though SVCC fought to the final buzzer.

J.C. Stewart led four SVCC players in double figures with 20 points, while Harris added 18.

SVCC hosts Central International College (Richmond) on Saturday at 2 p.m.
