Sarah Lee Pulliam peacefully departed this life on January 13, 2017 surrounded by her family in Halifax Regional Hospital. She was born on April 19, 1950 to the late James and Elizabeth Gayles of Saxe. Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Pulliam, her sister, Bernice Dailey and three brothers, Walter, Edward, and Earl Gayles.

She leaves to cherish precious memories, four children, Nannie Washington (Jake) of New Castle, DE, Larry Pulliam (Nancy) of Alton, Sophia Jones (Richard) of Saxe, and Garry Pulliam (Gwen) of Farmville; grandchildren, Angela Pulliam-Jones (Darnell), Tonya Pulliam, Tiffany Pulliam, Keon Pulliam, Shardae Washington, Desmond Pulliam, Keonna Pulliam, and Brianna Pulliam: 12 great-granchildren; four sisters, Elizabeth Pulliam, Inez Scott (Whitfield), Omeila Gregory and Juanita Pulliam (Carol); nine in-laws, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held 11 a.m., Thursday, January 19 at the Shiloh Baptist Church in Drakes Branch with interment in the church cemetery.
