Jerry Arthur Dews, 83, of Richmond, and formerly of Phenix, died on January 8, 2017 in Richmond. He was the son of the late Jimmy Dews and Rosetta Gilbert Dews.  He was the husband of the late Josephine Skates Dews.

He is survived by one daughter, Terry Carlisle (William); four sons, Arthur Lee Dews, Lowell Clark (Patricia), Silas Maurice Skates (Chrissy), and Archie O. Skates (Becky); 19 grandchildren; two brothers, William Dews and Sam Dews; one sister, Janie Pearl Garner; two nieces; five nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 16 at the Nazareth Baptist Church in Phenix with interment in the Mt. Lyle Baptist Church Cemetery in Pamplin.
