Statesmen place 3rd in W. Albemarle Duals

The Randolph-Henry High School varsity wrestling team placed third out of 12 teams at the Western Albemarle Duals on Saturday.

The Statesmen achieved wins over James River High School in Buchanan, Fork Union Military Academy and the Bandit Team, which was a squad composed of backup wrestlers from the other teams.

Randolph-Henry’s only losses came against Virginia High School League Group 4A competition in the form of Lord Botetourt High School and Group 3A competition via Western Albemarle High School.

Seven Statesmen wrestlers placed: 132-pounder Michael Nichols took first, going 5-0, 170-pounder Spencer Parrish (5-0) also took first, 126-pounder Christopher Nichols (4-1) took second, 106-pounder Matthew Aydlett (4-1) took second, and taking third with respective records of 3-2 were 113-pounder Travis Adams, 182-pounder Danny Parrish and 285-pounder Caleb Calhoun.

Randolph-Henry hosts the Court House Classic on Saturday, with action on the mat starting at 9 a.m.
