Brian Klingenfus has been hired as a staff writer and photographer for The Charlotte Gazette.

Klingenfus will write, photograph and contribute to print and digital products with Farmville Newsmedia LLC, including Farmville the Magazine, The Farmville Herald and The Kenbridge-Victoria Dispatch.

Klingenfus graduated from Longwood University in 2014 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies with a concentration in Mass Media. After graduating, he was hired at The Smith Mountain Eagle where he worked for 15 months before being transferred to the Times-Virginian in Appomattox.

“I have a passion for all things news related,” Klingenfus said. “There’s no better feeling than telling somebody’s story and informing the public of what’s happening in the community.”

“Brian is a very able writer and photographer,” said Gazette Managing Editor Jordan Miles. “I look forward to his community involvement and keeping this area informed of issues, events and matters important to them that impact their lives.”

Klingenfus is no stranger to covering events in Southside Virginia, having written stories for 460 Magazine, including a story on the Longwood Men’s Basketball Head Coach Jayson Gee, and submitting freelance work to The Farmville Herald prior to being hired as a staff writer.

“I am looking forward to covering and learning more of the surrounding areas and hope to become a recognized and trusted face in the community,” Klingenfus said.
