Get walking on the very first day of the year with a “First Day” hike at Staunton River Battlefield State Park, 1035 Forest Hill Trail in Randolph.
From 11:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., meet up with park staff at the Clover Visitor Center to take a guided tour exploring Wilsons Run Trail. Be the first to take a hike down the 2-mile trail on the first day of the year. The event will be held every two hours and explore the local wildlife and history of the battle of the Staunton River Bridge.
Children may attend but cannot be in a stroller, and dogs are allowed but must be on a leash. Be sure to dress for the weather.
Jan. 1 is a free park entrance day. Receive a special bumper sticker for participating.
