Carter Thomas White

Carter Thomas White, 16, of Aspen Road, Phenix, went to be with his Lord and Heavenly Father, Friday, December 2, 2016. He was born in Lynchburg on August 28, 2000. He was the son of William Thomas White and Regina Shortt White of Phenix.

He was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church and the Midway Youth Group. He was also a member of the Future Farmers of America and Freeland 4H Shooting Club.

Carter was a student at Randolph-Henry High School.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother, Conner Daniel White of Phenix; paternal grandparents, Reginald and Jo Ann White of Phenix; maternal grandparents, Marion Daniel Shortt of Nathalie and the late Ryland Wilson Shortt Sr.; one aunt, Regina White Thompson (Lee) of Moseley; two cousins, Evan Thompson (Becca) and Brett Thompson (Liz); four great uncles, Eugene M. Shortt, Phillip M. Shortt, Wayne Shortt (Mary Jo), and Garnett Shortt (Carolyn); three great aunts, Iris W. Guthrie, Linda S. Clark (Charlie), and Elizabeth S. “Betty” Shortt; and numerous family and close friends. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Ryland W. Shortt Jr.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 7 at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Mike Teixeira and the Rev. Chris Kesler, with interment to follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the residence.
