Having qualified for the Region 2A East meet, a select group of Runnin’ Statesmen from Randolph-Henry High School’s cross country program recently travelled to Panorama Farms in Charlottesville to compete in the regional meet, and the school’s boys team finished in 11th place out of 16 teams.
John Walker, Travis Adams, Jacob Barker, Billy French, Chris Nichols, Michael Nichols and Nasheim Pettus represented R-H as a team, and Lindy Newcomb competed individually.
“Every runner had great races and felt satisfied after competing on a warm day and challenging course,” Randolph-Henry Coach Jeffrey Williams said.
Pettus was the leader on the boys team and placed 28th individually, an effort good enough to qualify him for the Virginia High School League State Championships to be held Friday and Saturday at Great Meadow in The Plains.
