The Randolph-Henry High School varsity football team has been on a hot streak in recent weeks, but it was not able to extend this into its final game of the 2016 season Friday, losing by 16 against visiting Nottoway High School with a final score of 42-26.
The Statesmen finished the year with a 2-8 record. Since 2013, they have alternated between having a record of 5-5 and a record of 2-8.
This season, in the three games leading up to Friday’s showdown with the Cougars, Randolph-Henry either won or forced the winning team to secure victory on a last-minute score. The Statesmen defeated Cumberland High School 28-6 on Oct. 7, lost 45-40 to Prince Edward County High School on Oct. 21 following their bye week and beat Buckingham County High School 20-0 on Oct. 28.
