Gloria Elizabeth Green Dodson

Mrs. Gloria Elizabeth Green Dodson, age 86, formerly of Keysville, died on September 22, 2016, in New York. 

She was married to the late Mr. Lewis Dodson.

She received a bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Pace University.

In 1968, she became a senior vice president of the East River Savings Bank, of New York, and worked as senior auditor until her retirement. After retirement, Gloria and Lewis moved to Keysville, VA, in the 80s.

She shifted her career to education and accepted a position as an adjunct professor at Southside Virginia Community College in Keysville. She was a lifelong learner and an advocate for eliminating illiteracy.

Dodson was a member of the Board of Directors of the Charlotte Literacy Center. 

She is survived by her three daughters, Therese Plair, Beverly Ann Folkes and Valerie Lena Dodson; son-in-law, Theodore Plair; great-aunt, Beatrice Reid; her brother, Harold S. Green; five grandchildren, Jessica, Adrienne, Jill, Jonathan and Paul; three great granddaughters, Elizabeth, Stella and Shiloh; two grandsons-in-law, Darryl Rattray, and Franklin Sirmans; and many beloved nieces and nieces.

Funeral services were held at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America in North Chesterfield on September 30, 2016, with interment in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia. Funeral arrangements by Jeffress Funeral Home, of Charlotte Court House.
