Visions of Southside Virginia in new art exhibit

Southern Tapestry, an exhibition of oil paintings by Eldridge Bagley, will open at the MacCallum More Museum in Chase City on Oct. 5 and run through Nov. 14.

The show will feature some 30 works selected by Bagley especially for this exhibit. Featured paintings cover a span of more than 40 years, many of which have never been featured in a formal exhibit. A number of the works will be available for purchase.

Viewers of Bagley’s art will observe within his paintings a strong connection to — and obvious love for — the land and the people that have surrounded and inspired him throughout his life.

Bagley’s prints, books and DVDs (Lunenburg and Hometown Christmas) will be available at MacCallum More during the exhibit.

A reception will be held on Sunday, Oct. 23 from 3-5 p.m. There will be no admission charge on the day of the reception, though donations to the museum and gardens are appreciated.
