Brown assault trial Thursday

A youth baseball coach charged with misdemeanor assault in June will be tried Thursday at 9:30 a.m.
William A. “Alex” Brown allegedly hit an opposing coach from behind at the Dixie Youth Baseball field in Charlotte Court House on June 7. Ken Trent Jr., assistant coach of a Drakes Branch Dixie Youth baseball team, filed the misdemeanor assault charge against Brown with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office on June 13. Brown is a coach of a Charlotte Court House Dixie Youth baseball team. A warrant against Brown had already been issued a few days earlier, on June 10.
According to Trent’s complaint, Brown allegedly assaulted him from behind while Trent was on the phone, sending him to the ground before others restrained Brown. Brown allegedly said “this isn’t over” after cursing at Trent.
The assault charge is a class one misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year in prison and $2,500 in fines.
Brown was arraigned on June 16.
