Statesmen improve to 13-0 on links

The Randolph-Henry High School varsity golf team added two more tri-match victories to its collection to push its 2016 regular season record to 13-0 overall and 10-0 in the James River District.

The Statesmen’s district win streak is now at 165.

On Thursday, Randolph-Henry produced a team score of 148 at Briery Country Club, topping previously undefeated Nottoway, which had a score of 187. Goochland came in third with a 190.

Evan Mason led the way for the Statesmen with a three-under-par 33. Gunnar Lacks shot a 37, and Matthew Myers shot a 38. Not far behind was George Sandridge and Mitch Dunn, who each shot a 40.

On Aug. 23 at Kinderton Country Club, R-H recorded a 155 team score, trouncing Bluestone, which shot a 199, and Buckingham, which shot a 218.

Lacks and Mason each shot a 38 to tie for the team lead, Myers shot a 39 and Sandridge shot a 40.

The Statesmen faced Cumberland and Prince Edward on Tuesday in Farmville, and they return to action Thursday when they host Nottoway and Prince Edward at Briery Country Club at 3:30 p.m.
